Amendments In The Kodomo Teate Law Come Into Effect!
A notice letter regarding changes in the Kodomo Teate (child allowance) law was mailed out on 2022, June 1 from the city of Hikone.
The one of the major changes in the Kodomo Teate law is that, in principle, there is no longer need for Kodomo Teate recipients to file the notice of their current status (called Genkyo Todoke in Japanese) every June to continue to receive Kodomo Teate.
That being said, certain recipients are still required to submit the notice of their current status (for instance, a pending divorce case and living separately from the child to name a couple).
For more details, please refer to the translated version of the notice letter.
