Maternity and Child Health Handbook
The maternity and child health (MCH) handbook is given by Hikone City to pregnant women.
This MCH handbook is designed to record all the information regarding health
of a pregnant woman and her child. The MCH handbook has been translated into English,
Portuguese, Vietnamese, Spanish, Chinese, and Tagalog.
How To Receive The MCH
- Receive a pregnancy verification form (called Ninshin Todoke in Japanese) from a medical institution.
- Submit your pregnancy verification form to the Hikone Health Promotion Division.
Prenatal Care Check-ups
A prenatal care check-up is offered at a medical institution to ensure a mother and her unborn baby are healthy.
Prenatal care check-up tickets are provided to pregnant women alongside the MCH handbook.
Those tickets enable a pregnant woman to have each prenatal care check-up at little to no cost.
Important Note
Prenatal care check-up tickets provided by another municipality cannot be used in Hikone. Make sure to visit the Hikone Health Promotion Division to apply for the tickets if you have recently moved into Hikone from another municipality.
