Kei Car (Light Automobile) Tax

A Kei car tax is levied on people who have ownership of a small vehicle, scooter, or motorbike as of April 1 of the current year.
A Kei car tax bill and notification are mailed out by the Hikone city hall during the month of May.
If you fail to pay your Kei car tax on time, you will not be able to have your car, scooter, or motorbike go through compulsory inspections.
A Kei car tax deduction is offered for people with disabilities. For further details, please contact the Hikone Tax Division.
